Mont des Mules
This site clearly shows the settlement patterns prior to the Roman Conquest in the area known as “celto-Liguria”. Typically, they consist of a fairly large quantity of small fortified sites located on hilltops. There are signs of settlement here from as early as the 3rd century B.C. and, although it has not been excavated, it is possible to see the strong dry stone fortifications so characteristic of these sites, and the remains of a shrine tower that was still in use in the 1st century A.D.
