Villa Lumone
The elegant multi-coloured facade of the “Villa Lumone” originates from a funerary enclosure whose sides are more like a modern-day villa. It was probably constructed in the 1st century A.D. Two storeys and three apses decorated with frescoes remain. The monument, built by an unknown nobleman from Albintimilium, was no doubt not alone. It can be affiliated to the funerary inscriptions discovered nearby and it illustrates Rome’s customary connection between roads and burial sites.
