Hanbury botanical gardens and the Latte plain

The Hanbury Gardens are an exceptional reserve of environmental and historical treasures. Started in 1867 by the Englishman Sir Thomas Hanbury, the collection is home to around 6,000 types of plant from every country in the world. In the lower area of the grounds, away from the gardens proper, slightly west of Cape Mortola, an ancient pavement has been discovered in the midst of a splendid pinewood: the rounded cobblestones and stone kerbs are probably remains of the network of Roman roads that led to the Latte Plain.
